Interview with IRENA Director General Nominee Hans J rgen Koch

Wind and solar power and other new renewable energy sources provide Denmark with more electricity, on a percentage basis, than any other country. This accomplishment can be attributed in large part to the work of Hans J rgen Koch. For more than 30 years, Koch has worked in the Danish Energy Ministry where he now serves as deputy permanent secretary of state in the Ministry of Climate and Energy. He left the ministry in 1994 to spend eight years at the helm of the International Energy Agency, where he helped found the IEA's Renewable Energy Unit.
