Mason Greenstar is producing a building product called Greenstar Blox to be used in place of wood framing and cement cinder blocks. Greenstar Blox are like conventional cinder blocks but are made from 65 percent recycled paper, water, and cement. They have an R value of 25.6 compared to a cinder block's 2 and weigh 60% less. Company founder Zach Rabon built the first Blox house for himself.Not only do the walls keep the heat out in the summer, but they help retain heat in the winter. He says home insurance is lower, because the blocks do not succumb to termites, mold, fire, and even bullets....
