Teijin Ups Bioplastics Output Capacity With Purchase from Toyota

Nikkei. Teijin Ltd. has purchased a bioplastics testing facility from Toyota Motor Corporation that the automaker had installed at its Hirose plant in 2004 and stopped using in March. Teijin will move the equipment to its Matsuyama plant, where it will be upgraded by adding production technology developed by Teijin.The Japan-based chemicals and textile company plans to begin mass-producing 10,000 tons of bioplastics per year in fiscal 2010.Teijin is spending some 2 billion yen [US$18 million] to purchase and upgrade the demonstration equipment, which will be placed into service next summer.
