CEZ buys carbon credits from Chinese biomass power project

One of Central Europe's largest integrated energy companies, the CEZ Power Company, has signed an agreement to purchase emission reductions from a Chinese biomass power plant. CEZ CEO Martin Roman and Guo Zhenjun, General Manager of Hunan Liang Renewable Energy Power Co agreed to the deal under the rules of the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).The planned 15 MW biomass power plant project in the central Chinese province of Hunan will save at least 300,000 tons of CO2 by 2012.
